Who else is ready to get back to the hustle and bustle of normal city life? The good news is, New York City is coming back! With plans for a full reopening by July 1 and the weather warming up, New Yorkers are eager to get out and enjoy post lockdown life.
As vaccines continue to roll out and capacity and mask mandates start to ease, it’s looking more and more like you can fill your summer with safe socializing as our city heals.
Lucky for us, there’s already plenty of fabulous events and activities slated for May and June for everyone in your family to enjoy.
Here are a few suggestions for enjoying New York City life over the next few months!
Tribeca Film Festival Immersive
The Tribeca Film Festival will be back this year from June 9-20. On top of an amazing line-up of films to enjoy, you can also checkout Tribeca Immersive, an innovative augmented, virtual, and mixed reality experience that will take you to a new world.
This immersive experience takes storytelling to a new level and allows visitors to experience a world of emotion like nothing else.
“2021 is the most dynamic year yet for Tribeca Immersive, especially as it relates to the diversity of experiences,” said Loren Hammonds, VP, Immersive Programming, Senior Programmer, Film & Immersive. “Attendees, both in-person and online, will experience everything from live AI performers and animated adventures to a location-based augmented reality memorial.”

Lincoln Center Restart Stages
Lincoln Center is kicking off the NYC comeback with Restart Stages, “an outdoor performing arts center with 10 outdoor performance and rehearsal spaces—to help kickstart the performing arts sector and New York City’s revival.”
Throughout May and June you can enjoy music, dance and performances by artists from across the five boroughs. Free tickets will be available through the TodayTix Lottery, the Official Ticketing Partner of Restart Stages starting two weeks before each performance.
Museum Mile Festival
On June 8th from 6:00 PM-9:00 PM, some of the world’s most renowned museums on Fifth Avenue will offer free admission for the Museum Mile Festival!
The eight participating museums include: The Africa Center, El Museo del Barrio, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the Jewish Museum, Neue Galerie and the Museum of the City of New York.
In addition, you can enjoy additional outdoor activities and events as you stroll Fifth Avenue. This event is rain or shine!
Jazz Age Lawn Party
The Jazz Age Lawn Party is a prohibition era inspired event on Governors Island, happening June 12-13.
With live performances, drinks and activities,the event promises:

The Belmont Stakes
Looking to explore outside of the city? The final stretch in the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes is happening June 5th, just a train ride away in Long Island!
Tickets are on sale now for the 153rd running of one of the most noteworthy horse races of the year. It’s the perfect time to break out your most fabulous hat and head to the races!
